Become Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for a child in Foster Care. You can help as the voice of a child that is under Court jurisdiction due to experiencing abuse or neglect. You will become a trained advocate. You will not be asked to be a caregiver. You verify that the child is receiving services and attention, as outlined in a plan, and report to the Court. Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes. Too many spend years moving from one temporary home to another. They have no family to call their own. They are more likely than other children to face homelessness, unemployment, even prison as adults. CASA was created to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As trained advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is that a child is placed into a safe, loving home where he/she can thrive. YOU can be a CASA. COVID-19 has created an even greater need for support among the families we serve. We are currently accepting applications and anticipate holding a training series for new volunteers in the coming months. You can make an incredible difference in the life of a child. Please contact us if you think that you might be interested now, or in the coming months! The next mandatory pre-service training is scheduled to begin in the Spring!

Impacts from COVID-19 have left more students with gaps in their educational experiences at the same time it has increased stresses. Learning Partners are matched with at-risk students to help them with their academic and life skills. Become a role model for a school-aged child. Work in prevention or intervention, all under the direction of the classroom teacher or other personnel. You will support the student and help confidently build successes. Regularly, consistently being there --showing up when you said you would -- means a lot to a struggling youth. One hour each week can make a huge difference. Expect training, monthly volunteer meetings, and professional support. Expect to make a difference in the life of a student. Most referrals are school-based. We have started making new matches and you are encouraged to apply or ask questions now!

Mission Statement
The mission of CASA is to speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the courts. We promote and support quality volunteer representation for children to provide each child a safe, permanent, nurturing home.
Description
Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes. That's where CASA steps in. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created in 1977 to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As trained advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is that a child is placed into a safe, loving home where he/she can thrive. It is the CASA vision to provide a volunteer for each and every abused and neglected child who needs one.
