The Community Cycling Center, founded in 1994, broadens access to bicycling and its benefits through our hands-on programs, volunteer projects, and neighborhood bike shop.
We believe bicycles are a tool for empowerment and a vehicle for change.
The Community Cycling Center, founded in 1994, helps broaden access to bicycling and its benefits through our hands-on programs, volunteer projects, and neighborhood bike shop. Our Commitment to the Community:
Bicycles are a vehicle for change. All year long, we strengthen our community and protect our environment by making used bikes accessible to people of all ages, abilities, and incomes. Our earn-a-bike programs help low-income youth and adults become self-sufficient, healthy, and safe.
Bicycles should be accessible to everyone. Our professional retail bike shop sells refurbished bicycles at a range of reasonable prices and offers a full menu of services.
It takes a community to do what we do. Bicycles and parts are donated from individuals, institutions and supporting businesses. Churches, businesses, schools, and neighborhood groups hold bike collections to help collect bikes. Volunteers help us recycle, fix up program bikes, and coordinate events.
Our Commitment to the Environment:We recycle what we can't use. This adds up to about 25 tons of metal each year, making us the largest bicycle recycling organization in the US.
Most of our staff ride a bike to work. Over 90% of our staff commute via bike daily, proving that we walk our walk and ride our ride!
The office does its part, too. We print on used paper when possible and use an environmentally responsible printer Natural Press for the printing of envelopes and office stationary.
