AHC eliminates violence by offering creative and educational programs that transform the human spirit and build peaceful, loving communities for all humanity.
AHC builds healthy communities by breaking the cycle of violence. We provide platforms for creative expression and communication for children, youth, adults and families.
At AHC, we seek to provide programs, classes, workshops and events that help build resiliency, uplift the human spirit, and support the healthy, peaceful development of individuals, families, organizations, and communities within our reach. All of our work is based on the principles of Attitudinal Healing, a non-traditional approach to mental health that encourages personal development through the promotion of self-awareness, mindfulness, and compassion.
- Our creative, interdisciplinary educational programs inspire individuals to engage deeply and actively in the learning process. Since 1995, AHC has run an award-winning art and literacy program called ArtEsteem that has helped develop creative, engaged and successful children/youth through building knowledge and emotional, social, academic and intellectual skills.
- Our workshops use experiential learning to foster skills in communication, cooperation, and compassion.
- Our events, like the Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, showcase the artwork and performances of local children and youth while promoting social justice and civic participation.
- Our healing circles provide a safe space for reflection and community-building by helping participants respond to conflict, grief, and loss.
