CASA-CAN Children's Advocate Network

Description

Volunteers serve as guardians ad litem for children who have been abused or negelcted and then thrust into foster care and the very adult world of the child protection and the judicial system. In the courtroom everyone but the child has an attorney, and the child has no one to speak for their best interests unless a guardian ad litem is appointed. In the short term we advocate for a child's rights, best interests and timely permanency. In the long term we are preventing the cycle of abuse from continuing.
