Mission Statement

St. Clair/Monroe County CASA provides trained volunteers who advocate for the best interest of abused or neglected children in the juvenile court system.

Description

Each year over 200 children in our local community are severely abused or neglected and in critical need of safe, permanent, nurtuing homes. Too often they are faced with years of moving from one foster home to another, with no real family to call their own. These innocent, young victims need caring individuals who will help to guide them through the complex court system and make sure their needs are heard and addressed by the court. Our CASA volunteers are dedicated, responsible and highly trained. Each is appointed by the juvenile court judge to be a voice for an abused child. The result, with CASA's help, is permanent placement in a safe, loving home that best matches the child's needs. Our CASA volunteers make a difference. They give children hope and security. Our volunteers come from all cultures, professions and educational backgrounds. They are trained in courtroom procedure, social services and the special needs of abused and neglected children. The agency maintains a small staff responsible for the recruitment, training and support of CASA volunteers.
