Mission Statement
CASA of Talbot County, Inc. will advocate for the best interest of all abused and neglected children who are in the Talbot County juvenile court system through no fault of their own. As empowered by the Circuit Court of Talbot County, we will train and provide volunteer advocates to make assessments and recommendations to the court.
Description
We are a private, non-profit 501c3 organization, founded in 1990. We have grown from serving 6 children with 4 volunteers to serving approximately 60 children a year with approximately 50 volunteers. We have a staff of four; an Executive Director, Volunteer Coordinator, Resource Coordinator and Administrative Assistant. We offer an annual (usually February) 30 hour preservice training for new volunteers and on-going in-service training for current volunteers. The advocates are supervised by our Executive Director and our Volunteer Coordinator, and Peer Reviews are held on a regular basis so that CASAs can share their questions, concerns, etc. with fellow volunteers (names are never used in order to preserve the confidentiality of their client). We have an excellent working relationship with the Department of Social Services and other social services organizations in the communtiy, and have grown to be an important piece in the local child welfare professional community.
