Join us in assisting with the efficient operation of our donation center! Help sort and hang clothing, assemble kits, and assist during pick-up times. Work alongside other dedicated volunteers to ensure that donations are organized and ready for distribution to those in need. Why: Your efforts will help provide essential items to individuals and families in need, ensuring they receive clean, properly fitting clothing and necessary supplies. With your help, we can swiftly sort and distribute donations to our community. Who: L.A. Family Housing (LAFH) works to help families transition out of homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing enriched with supportive services. What to Expect: Sort and hang clothing for donation, removing any damaged items and putting items on hangers in the same direction Assemble kits based on specific needs (e.g., hygiene kits, welcome home baskets, baby kits, school supplies, summer care packages, etc.) Assist During Pick-Up Times with locating and distributing clothing and keeping things neat Retrieve pre-ordered items from the donation room What's Required: Must be comfortable standing and lifting up to 25 lbs Must show proof of vaccination Must be over age 14 Any volunteers under age 14 must be accompanied by an adult who also signs up and participates. One adult may supervise up to 3 minors. You might get a little dirty - we will provide PPE but it does get dusty! Bring some water in case it gets hot Have Questions or Need Accommodation? Whether it's a haunted house, a magical forest, or a spooky laboratory, let your imagination run wild. Hand Out Candy: Bring joy to children's faces by distributing candy and treats from your decked-out trunk. Your welcoming smile and warm spirit will create unforgettable memories. Volunteer Your Time: We welcome volunteers to help with event logistics, ensuring a smooth and delightful experience for all attendees. Crafts and Activities: Enhance the fun by organizing Halloween-themed crafts, games, and activities for the kids to enjoy. (OPTIONAL) YOUR IMPACT: "Trunk or Treat" is a unique and fun twist on traditional trick-or-treating. This year, we invite you to be part of a heartwarming celebration that will light up the faces of children from families transitioning away from homelessness. REQUIREMENTS: Must be 18+ or accompanied by an adult. Must have completed our required training. All candy must be unopened and individually wrapped. Must dress up in their spookiest costume! We need volunteers to help distribute donations of costumes and other items to our participants so they can be ready for Halloween. Why: The spirit of Halloween is a time for joy, creativity, and excitement for children across the nation. However, for families transitioning from homelessness, the cost of a Halloween costume can be daunting. This October, we invite you to participate in an extraordinary event that will bring smiles, laughter, and magic to children's lives. Who: L.A. Family Housing (LAFH) works to help families transition out of homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing enriched with supportive services. What to Expect: Volunteers will organize, set up, and run our costume giveaway event. Unloading and laying out costumes for the kid participants in our program. Be a personal shopper for our participants. What's Required: Must first attend our required 1 hour training Must show proof of vaccination Must be over 18 Must be able to lift up to 25lbs and be on your feet the whole time Have Questions or Need Accommodation? LAFH needs you to sing for our participants during Winter Wonderland! Why: Join us in spreading cheer and warmth through caroling, and help us create a wonderful and inviting atmosphere. Who: L.A. Family Housing (LAFH) works to help families transition out of homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing enriched with supportive services. What to Expect: LAFH needs you to sing for our participants! Winter Wonderland is a cherished tradition LA Family Housing hosts annually to bring joy to families. During the celebration, kids can choose a new toy and engage in fun activities to ring in the holidays and enjoy a gathering with their families and others in their community. Join us in spreading holiday cheer at this event! We are looking for enthusiastic carolers to help us spread the holiday spirit by traveling around the event, singing holiday classics to families around the different activities at the event, and while they wait in line. Your voice can make a difference in creating magical memories for everyone! December 8th, 10:30 am to 2:00 pm in Valley Village, California What's Required: Must be able to sing within a group. Must come dressed up as an elf.
