Mission Statement

AFI is an autistic-founded, autistic-controlled, non-profit organization to assist higher functioning autistic adults. It is dedicated to self-determination, and to providing client-directed, individualized assistance.

Description

We are a very new organization (we've just selected a board and are just now applying for 501(c)(3) status). We are however the formalization of an informal emergency/needs fund that was in operation for something over a year. In that time we assisted individuals around the globe: helping a homeless teen in Australia graduate high school, feeding a family in Ohio (with both parents and children on the autistic spectrum) during a rough month; getting a computer for a woman in England; helping a woman in Montreal with transportation needs; etc.
