Metro East Humane Society

Mission Statement

The Metro East Humane Society (MEHS) is a not-for-profit charitable organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, the relief of suffering among animals, the provision of appropriate care, and medical attention to and disposition of animals committed to its care, the extension of humane education, and the encouragement of animal population control. It is the policy of the MEHS to provide humane care and treatment for all animals needing protection in the area served by the society, to return lost animals to their owners, to seek suitable homes for animals without owners, and to provide euthanasia when necessary.
