The STOP DV Committee has been organized to combat and eliminate the domestic violence problem in the Faulkner County community. A community oriented, multi-disciplinary committee, it brings together every group involved in and affected by domestic violence--law enforcement, judiciary, legal, clergy medical, victims, educators, media, mental health workers, white-collar and blue-collar - because everybody is affected
The Goals of the committte are Encourage law enforcement, prosecutors and judges to treat domestic abuse as the crime that it is. Support victims of domestic abuse by easing their route through the judicial process. Proted the children in households where domestic abuse occurs. Provide victims with information about resources, options and alternatives available in the community. Provide information on programs and treatment options for batterers. Monitor victim responses and criminal statistics for team effectiveness. Elevate community awareness of domestic abuse. Bring together concerned groups and individuals to promote a coordinated community response to domestic violence.
