Court Appointed Special Advocates of Washington County, Maryland, Inc. will recruit, screen, train and supervise volunteers to serve as advocates for children in adjudicated cases of child abuse and neglect to contribute positive outcomes in child, family and community welfare in Washington County, Maryland.

POSITION DESCRIPTION VOLUNTEER ADVOCATE
To advocate for children who are subjects of adjudicated cases of abuse or neglect.
To provide objective, independent and factual information to the courts regarding the "best interests" of abused or neglected children.
To monitor compliance of court orders for referred cases.
To conduct thorough, independent research regarding the welfare of children within court referred adjudicated cases of child abuse or neglect.
To conduct file research, interviews and observations relative to the formation of assessments and recommendations provided to the courts.
To provide written reports with recommendations relative to the "best interests" of children to the courts.

Advocate for youth is absolutely essential the advocate is a voice that is heard. More than likely this individual is in a crisis situation and needs help in order to be given the chance to become a good person in society. Even if youth has family somtimes family doesn't know how to deal with the situatin at hand. Youth is our future and if you can reach anyone it will be youth that we can change if given the proper tools.
