Mission Statement

Built in 1886, the Haas-Lilienthal House is a spectacular Victorian era Queen Anne. Both a City Landmark and National Treasure, it's the only single family residence, in San Francisco, open to the public as a house museum. The H-L House also promotes Heritage Hikes, designed to educate 3rd graders about both life in a late 19th century home and the architectural standards of that time.

The Haas-Lilienthal House is home to the offices of San Francisco Heritage. SFH is a nonprofit, member supported organization with a mission to preserve and enhance San Francisco's unique historic architectural and cultural identity through advocacy, education and outreach.

Description

There is a wide variety of opportunities for motivated volunteers, both inside and outside the House.

The House is open for tours three days a week; Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons. We are always looking for vols interested in gaining experience as a tourguide, working in an historic house and/or educating the public about local history.

The House has a large garden surrounding the building on three sides, for those who love to be outside.

San Francisco Heritage is always looking for support with research projects, organizing architectural files and digital help.
