The American Heart Association's public education programs tell people how to reduce their risk of heart disease and stroke. Millions of people learn each year of the dangers of cigarette/tobacco smoke, high blood pressure, a diet high in fats and cholesterol, and being inactive. They also participate in programs that encourage a more healthful lifestyle. Those programs are held in community sites, in schools, at healthcare sites and where people work.
