Mission Statement

Our mission is to promote citizen participation in the expansion, enhancement, and delivery of quality services to the citizens of College Station.

Description

Currently, there are three types of volunteers working in the city: (1.) The occasional or special project volunteer - A volunteer project that is usually for one time or takes a few hours or a few days to complete. This type of assignment would include working at a special event or in small teams. (2.) Interns or other students required to complete practical experience as part of a course assignment are welcomed. Staff will work with the student and his/her instructor to satisfy course requirements within the volunteer assignment. (3.) Ongoing volunteer positions are needed indefinitely and are usually a regular part of a department's normal operations. Occasionally, more than one volunteer may be assigned to the work on a rotating schedule. Volunteers are used throughout the city from the numerous city advisory boards to the participants in the Citizen's Police Academy and Citizen's University, as well as all the basketball and softball coaches. In addition, several departments have positions for volunteers on a regular basis. They include clerical workers, greeters, swimming instructors, and tutors.
