Rolling Readers USA is a national nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established in San Diego, California in 1991. Today, the organization is a network of over fifty community-based chapters throughout 25 states and serves over 200,000 of our nation's children every week. Wherever we serve children, families and communities in need, we continue to attract the attention of educators, business and community leaders alike. Rolling Readers USA is a proud partner in General Colin Powell's America's Promise, and a founding partner in the America Reads Challenge. Rolling Readers USA reaches out to children through two major and effective programs: Read Aloud and Tutor USA. Taken together, Rolling Readers USA programs offer children a uniquely balanced and effective approach to early literacy development: motivation through reading aloud, independent reading through book giveaways and individualized instruction through tutoring. Program books and materials are available in English and Spanish. PARTNERSHIPS AND COLLABORATIONS Public schools districts, Even Start and Head Start sites, public housing developments, family shelters and other community-based sites sponsor Rolling Readers USA programs and volunteers locally. Several corporate stakeholders, including American Honda, Disney, Edison International, Sony, Time-Warner offer their employees "release time " to serve the community as Rolling Readers in various locations throughout the country.
