Our mission is to improve literacy through instilling a love of books and reading in disadvantaged children.
Rolling Readers of Duluth/Superior is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving literacy in our communities.
Through fundraising, volunteer recruitment and partnerships with local Title I schools, we are able to provide 55 elementary school classrooms with a weekly read aloud volunteers and distribute nearly 1100 new children's books to participating students each spring.
This is my first year as a Rolling Reader and I love it. I spend an hour each Wednesday (during my lunch break) with two classes (30 minutes each) of second-graders in Superior. The teachers tell me it's their favorite activity of the week, and they're always really excited to see me and to hear what I have to read to them. If you can make it fit into your schedule, I'd strongly recommend becoming involved with Rolling Readers.
