Mission Statement

The mission of The Arc of Union County is to empower and support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. We will engage the individuals we serve, their families, public, and private entities to ensure that all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities associated with this organization realize a full, productive, and enhanced life.

Description

Founded in 1949, The Arc has grown into Union County’s largest provider of on- and off-site educational, residential, vocational, habilitative, recreational, and support services to individuals with I/DD and their families serving approximately 1,000 children and adults each month through a continuum of comprehensive programs geared to assist clients and their families throughout all stages of their lives.

In Union County, The Arc has 26 group homes, 4 adult day programs, children and family services including early intervention, a preschool and summer camp, respite services, transportation to and from all programs and a workforce and development employment program.

The Arc functions as both an advocacy and service agency. Its goal for both endeavors is to promote holistic community integration and independence for people with I/DDs across life spheres and within early childhood, educational, social, residential, vocational and family domains.
