The mission of Boston Neighborhood Networks is to use cable's unique communications capabilities to address communication needs of individuals and institutions in Boston by: Giving a more direct voice to and fostering understanding among various neighborhoods, groups and points of view Expanding the diversity and variety of information on local topics addressing the specific needs of targeted populations Increasing access for residents to educational, cultural, political, health and human service resources of the city Strengthening the ability of all institutions to serve Boston's diverse residents by providing a mechanism through which they can effectively Providing overall local television programs and opportunities not available on other television venues in Boston

Description

BNN-TV, Boston's public access cable television center, offers low-cost access to cable television channels, video production equipment and facilities, training, production support, and multimedia computer access. By providing the means of production and a public forum, it invites diverse communities to express themselves and encourages broad-based public dialogue. BNN-TV: Programs two local cable television channels Manages a live interactive studio for non-profit groups Provides public access production facilities and training Produces special video productions on contract with other agencies Maintains a community-based multimedia computer center (opens Fall 2000)
