Mission Statement
Interfaith Hospitality Network of Ocean County (IHNOC) is a non-profit, interfaith ministry committed to providing shelter, meals and assistance to homeless families. We reach out with compassion and acceptance, providing help, hope and a safe haven for our guests while they seek permanent, affordable housing. We increase community awareness and advocate responsible solutions to homelessness.
Description
IHNOC is celebrating its 10 year anniversary this year (2007). We are a non-profit organization that is able to provide temporary shelter for 14 family members each week through our network of churches and synagogues in the community. The families gather for dinner and overnight shelter at one congregation each week. During the day, they are able to utilize the Day Center as their "home" in Toms River. Here they meet with our Director for assistance in locating permanent housing, support and interface with the social services agencies. With the exception of our Director and part time office assistant, the Network runs completely on volunteer effort, including the Board of Trustees.
