Mission Statement

One of the main purposes of Community Children's Ministry is to provide the time, place and staff leadership to allow neighborhood children to gain and improve academic skills. Community Children's Ministry, by structure and content of its activities, remains a cornerstone for closely sharing problems and finding answers to neighborhood concerns of educational and social nature.

Description

Community Children's Ministry (CCM) is a program of The National City Christian Church that has existed for over twenty years. We are located in the heart of Washington, DC at Five Thomas Circle, a five minute walk from McPherson Square metro station. National City Christian Church (NCCC) is the national cathedral for all the Christian Church congregations in the United States and Canada. NCCC represents more than a million denominational members throughout North America. Our congregation is known for its involvement in the needs and concerns of the every-changing multi-cultural inner-city that is our nation's capital. Community Children's Ministry started in the early 1970s with Summer Enrichment Program and has since evolved into an After-School Program, where elementary school students are involved in basic skill development and remedial work in math and language arts. As we approach the fall, we are quite excited to announce that the After-School program will be expanding to include the implementation of a One-on-One Tutoring Program, for which we are currently recruiting volunteers.
