Mission Statement
People for Puget Sound (PFPS) is a non-profit citizens' organization formed in 1991. Its mission is to protect and restore Puget Sound's waters, land and common future. Goals include to eliminate contamination of the Sound and Straits, to halt the destruction of natural habitats of the Sound and Straits, and to sustain the Sound and Straits as a healthy source of people's livelihood, enjoyment and renewal.
Description
People for Puget Sound has 4 main programs, all of which volunteers are a critical part of; 1.Education-presentations/demonstrations in schools, summer camps, festivals and nature centers, 2. Outreach- Information displays, petition support, newletters, presentations, and special events, 3. Habitat Programs- Restoration and monitoring of sites at near shore habitat critical for salmon survival, and 4. Shoreline Inventory- a program to catalog priority areas of shoreline. *NOTE- People for Puget Sound has three offices, and volunteer opportunities may vary according to the office location/area you are interested in, please see PFPS webpage.
