Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
We, the staff of Senior & Adult Services and Partners in Caring, strive for innovation in our approaches to the delivery of our services so that we are always mindful and constantly challenged to provide services that meet the real needs of the individuals we serve. We promote the dignity, self-reliance, and full potential of the individual within the context of a strong and healthy community. We are responsive to the service challenges presented by the community. By staying responsive to the challenges presented by the community, and maintaining an alignment of values, we are able to strengthen and diversify our staffing, volunteers and funding resources."
Partners in Caring provides community building activities to people living in 11 Seattle Housing Authority (SHA) residences. The program's intent is to build community amongst diverse populations and to minimize the impacts of isolation for individual residents of these buildings. Resident involvement in the creation, development and coordination of activities is encouraged and staff work with the Resident Councils and Building Managers. Activities include field trips, potlucks, holiday events, bingo games, computer and exercise classes, Operation Frontline cooking classes, writing groups and other activities of specific interest to residents. A monthly newsletter is published for each apartment building, which announces activities in the building and community resources. Partners in Caring subcontracts with Jewish Family Services to provide targeted outreach and special activities for the Russian/Ukrainian speaking populations of 3 SHA residences.
