Description
This is an innovative AmeriCorps program, run out of Phoenix Houses of California, which supports its mission by: rebuilding commmunities and lives affected by drugs, improving quality of services delivered, and increasing self efficacy and self-esteem. The members of the California Chapter of the National Substance Abuse Service Corps have been serving in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Orange, and San Diego Counties, providing substance abuse services in the areas of prevention, education, and treatment. Typical activities of members include presentations in schools, participation in community events, and the design and implementation of innovative programs to combat the problem of substance abuse among youth.
