The week concludes with public performances of the plays in staged readings.  New Play Awards and Scholarship: State Theater Company awards cash prizes annually for the Best New American Play and the Larry L. King Outstanding Texas Playwright as well as a Scholarship in New Play Development to a deserving area graduate student.  Cabaret Bar: Every Saturday night, following mainstage performances in the lobby of the State Theater, the Cabaret Bar showcases local artists from Austin's jazz, swing and musical theatre cultures. The intimate setting, smoke-free environment and top-notch talent make this the perfect after-theatre event.  Mentoring: Each year, a young arts organization is chosen to receive office space, performance space, and professional advice for that year.
