Mission Statement

THE MISSION OF THE RMF IS TO DEVELOP THE FULL HUMAN POTENTIAL BY FOSTERING THEIR INTELLECTUAL, SOCIAL, ECONOMICAL, MORAL AND SPIRITUAL GROWTH. RMF'S PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE COMMUNITY BASED PROGRAMS AND SERVICES IN AN EFFORT TO PREVENT CRUELTY OF CHILDREN, DECREASE JUVENILE DELINQUENCY, STRENGTHEN FAMILIES AND THE CREATION OF A COMMUNITY CENTER TO ENCOMPASS SERVICES AND PROGRAMS WITH EXTENDED EVENING AND WEEKEND HOURS, TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF YOUTHS, LATINOS, WOMEN, AND OTHER DISADVANTAGED GROUPS.

Description

The Rivera Memorial Foundation, Inc. was establish in 1990 after the death of two local firefighters whom lost their lives in an accident on route to a false alarm. These two firefighters were Eddie Rivera and Howard Hughes.

The Rivera Memorial Foundation has several youth programs. The Cheerleading/Dance team for 18 years - for girls 5-17 years of age, Scholarship Awards for high school and full time college students, a youth sports program- for girls & boys, High School Internship Program, Summer Enrichment Camp, Bridge After School Enrichment Program, to name a few.

We are currently implementing our youth development program which include: Mentoring, Career/college counseling programs. Our program run year round and after school. Our goals are to develop an individualized plan for each youth of their needs; engage the parents and educators in the program; develop age appropriate programs for at risk youths during non-school hours providing structured recreational, educational, cultural, community services and fund-raising events; decrease juvenile delinquency by stimulating positive youth development; increase the number of young citizens who are productive members of their communities; develop youth involvement and youth leadership skill-building strategies; provide youths with varied enrichment activities that would appeal to diverse youth.
