CONTACT Lubbock, Inc. provides a loving, caring, confidential 24-hour a day crisis intervention, listening line to callers of all faiths and ages. We also provide referrals to community resources and offer prevention education. Accredited by CONTACT-USA and Lifeline International.

Description

Since 1971, volunteers trained in active listening have been the calm and affirming presence to anonymous callers who are lonely, depressed, grieving, ill, and sometimes suicidal. Support originally came from the local Ministerial Alliance. A talk line for teens staffed by their trained peers was begun in 1985. We also have programs that are daily safety checks: Reassurance for the elderly and frail individuals that live alone. KidsLine for children who go home after school to wait the arrival of an older sibling or their parents.
