Now more than ever, our communities need people with strong communication skills; people who are trustful and trustworthy; who know how to work, play, and live together. The Fort Miley Adventure Ropes Course exists as a resource to assist all members of our community in developing these essential skills. The ropes course fosters a fun, safe, and inclusive environment in which individuals and groups may work together to develop self-confidence, group cooperation, communication, leadership and decision making-skills. Our particular commitment is to serving members of the community who are historically disadvantaged or disenfranchised due to their socio-economic or ethnic background, drug or alcohol abuse, gang affiliation, teen parenthood, sexual orientation, or disability.
Fort miley is a park partner of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (the Presidio) and a special project of the San Francisco State Universtiy Foundation. Over the past 20 years we have introduced over 20 thousand people to the ropes course world. Most of those people meet the description in our mission statement. However, we also offer corporate teambuilding programs, college orientation programs and more. Fort Miley is volunteer based adventure program consisting of 2 paid staff, 4 part-time staff, and a community of volunteers of about 100.
