The mission of the Care Through Touch Institute is: to be where the destitute are; to touch them with respect and compassion; to be touched and altered by the social dimensions taught by the experiences and the lives of the marginalized; in turn, to educate others through these insights.

Description

The Care Through Touch Institute is a state-approved school of massage that has been offering professional and non-professional training programs in the therapeutic benefits of touch and the ministry of massage since 1983. In 1999 CTI made a permanent shift in focus: it became an agency that exclusively serves the poor, and therefore offers specialized massage skill trainings, rather than being a massage school that offers an occasional internship among the poor. We have trained over 600 people worldwide. We now serve over 3000 marginalized San Franciscans per year.
