Mission Statement

Our mission is: To promote and support healthy families through education and resources that help them understand how to work together to provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for children to live and grow. To increase public awareness about child safety, community resources, and family life through events, workshops, mentoring, and referrals. To collaborate with service providers to sustain ongoing agency networking, ensuring that the needs of every family are met and child abuse and neglect are prevented.

Description

The Parent and Child Center at Bristol Hospital has a special goal, which centers on the important, yet simple concept of "Family Life Works." By bringing educational programs out into the community, we help parents and children gain a better understanding of how they can work together to promote family life.

Family life and the stresses of parenting can be influenced by so many factors, including today's hectic pace. Our Center seeks to assist parents with the task of parenting. Our programs are designed to meet parents' needs, especially when family life is compounded by added stress factors. The Center works to provide all parents, especially those at risk, with the resources they need to cope with the stressors in their lives and their children- without resorting to violence or abuse. The Center offers numerous programs, which seek to meet this end. The educational component seeks to provide parents and families with information and resources. The Center also provides outreach programming to the Greater Bristol community through home visits and parenting classes.

Our Caring Closet offers basic need items - diapers, wipes, baby food, clothing, and other baby items - to low income clients with young children. Call The Parent and Child Center at Bristol Hospital at 860-585-3481 for more information about signing up for this program. Current drop-in hours are

  • Mondays - 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM
  • Wednesdays - 10 AM to 11:30 AM
