Mission Statement
The Discovery Science Place is a non-profit, hands-on learning environment whose purpose is to open young minds to science, technology, math and cultures in order to meet the challenges of our times. Our goals are to: Spark a child's natural curiosity and sense of wonder; Support teachers by providing tools such as programs and training that will assist in meeting curriculum objectives; Provide the family an environment in which to explore and learn together; Form partnerships with community agencies that address the educational needs of children.
Description
The Discovery Science Place is a 20,000 sq. ft. museum with three exhibit halls, plus the Wet Lab Activity Center, and the Discovery and Cabe Foundation classrooms. The museum serves children 3-14 yrs. old and adults through group tours, summer camps, camp-ins, and educational programming such as the STARLAB portable planetarium, the "Stuffee & Me" Health Education Program, Girls At The Center, and more.
