Mission Statement

The mission of Palo Alto Humane Society (PAHS) is to alleviate the suffering of animals, increase public sensitivity to animal issues, and elevate the status of animals in our society through innovative programs in intervention, education and advocacy. With the goal of creating a more humane planet, PAHS empowers people to make humane choices and take action on behalf of the animals.

Description

Palo Alto Humane Society(PAHS) is one of the few humane societies nationwide with no animal shelter. Instead of managing animals inside a shelter, we work to keep animals out of the shelter.

We educate, advocate, and intervene whenever humane expertise is needed throughout the mid-Peninsula community.

Our Gift Shop is a great place to browse and shop - all proceeds directly support our programs assisting cats, dogs, rabbits, horses, birds, etc.

Palo Alto Humane Society (PAHS) has done amazing work for animals since 1908. The City of Palo Alto has run the shelter since 1972 (Palo Alto Animal Services, 650-496-5971), so PAHS focuses on humane advocacy and education. Check out www.paloaltohumane.org for details on the good work of the past and the exciting goals for the future. Visit their office and The Animal Art Gallery at 520 Santa Cruz Avenue in Menlo Park which raises funds for humane programs.
