Description

FOB is a non-profit set up to improve the Coney Island Boardwalk, and to impact the surrounding areas in a positive fashion. Our main membership activity is the "boardwalk brigade", a team of local residents and students who monitor the conditions on the boardwalk on a regular basis, equipped with cameras and mobile radios. The purpose of the teams is solely to observe and report any physical deterioration such as loose boards, graffitti, incursion on boardwalk space by merchants, etc.The other activities will include organizing special events, such as flycasting contests, chess tournaments, concerts, etc. The final thrust of the FOB is to work towards the complete rebuilding of the Boardwalk and the improvement of the physical conditions for the betterment of all those who use this historic structure.
