Mission Statement

The Philadelphia Health Corps (PHC) is a program designed to "open doors to better health" in underserved Philadelphia communities. Teams of PHC members are assigned to community health centers and other community-based organizations where they assist physicians, nurses, social workers, health educators and other staff in providing services such as case management and conducting outreach and health promotion activities.

Description

! As part of AmeriCorps, the national community service program, the Philadelphia Health Corps (PHC) enables individuals to serve others while they learn new skills and earn money for their education. It also offers the opportunity to develop as a leader, explore a career, and meet new people. Our members are trained to conduct various forms of outreach, and to provide services in partnership with community health centers and other local organizations. PHC members perform their service in communities around the city. They are involved in many activities, such as planning health fairs, conducting home visits, referring pregnant women to nutrition services, and escorting parents and children to the local health center.
