Neighborhood Health Clinics is a vital community nonprofit organization with a 13-year history of meeting the health care needs of our low-income neighbors. Neighborhood Health Clinics truly epitomizes the term "community-based." From weekly medical and dental clinics to a prenatal program to counseling services to immunizations for youth, NHC provides for the health care needs of the uninsured. Without Neighborhood Health Clinics, the working poor would have few options for urgent health care.Yet what is truly unique about Neighborhood Health Clinics is that it provides almost all of these services solely with the help of volunteers. Over 400 dedicated people donate their time to help more than 5,300 people each year, keeping NHC's overhead at a remarkable 12%.
