Mission Statement

The mission of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Pike County is to foster positive and measurable growth for at-risk youth (primarily from single-parent homes) including a strengthened sense of self-worth, development of character, and improved relationships and performance at home, in school, and throughout the community, through professionally direct mentoring program utilizing carefully screened and trained volunteers.

Description

BBBS of Pike County has a community based mentoring program where volunteer adults are matched one-on-one with children for 4 to 5 hours a week to serve primarily as a positive role-model. Our school-based program matches adult volunteers with children in their school for approximately 1-2 hours per week to help their "Little" improve academic functioning and increase self-esteem.
