Growing Futures Early Education Center, formerly Head Start of Shawnee Mission, began in 1965. 2015 marked our 50th anniversary of providing children and families with high quality early education and comprehensive support services that empower them to be socially and academically ready for kindergarten and life.
Growing Futures Early Education Center offers Early Head Start, Head Start, and Community Child Care options for children 0-5 and their families. Enrolled families also have access to a variety of comprehensive support services that include health and nutrition services, mental health, dental health, family advocacy, and family engagement opportunities.
Nearly 37,000 Johnson County residetns live below the federal poverty level, in which 12,000 are children. Families are eligible for Head Start if they are living at 100% of the federal poverty level, which is currently a meager 20,160 for a family of three.
Growing Futures Early Education Center is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization and relies on support from government grants, private foundations, and generous individuals in the community who donate their time and resources to make our program a success.
