Attorney General of Washington

Description

The Attorney General of Washington's Consumer Protection Division enforces the state's Consumer Protection Act and other state laws which protect consumers. Its mission is to secure a marketplace free from deceit and unfairness. To acheive this, the Division has developed a four-step program which furnishes needed services to Washington citizens. The four steps are: 1) Providing information to consumers to better enable them to make wise choices, 2) Providing informal mediation services to consumers and businesses, 3) Taking legal action on behalf of the state when necessary, and 4) Seeking changes in the laws through the Legislature.
