Mission Statement

To assist in furthering the goals and objectives of the Sheldon Jackson Museum under the guidance and with the approval of the Museum staff.Provide a means by which persons and organizations interested in the organization may contribute money, time, objects and/or services.Enable persons contributing money, objects, and/or services to recieve appropriate recognition of their contributions and to receive tax benefits available to them as authorized under Section 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue code.

Description

Ways in which The Friends of Sheldon Jackson Museum support the Museum include operating a year-round shop in the Lobby that sells traditional Native arts and crafts and promotes Native art and artists, purchasing of artifacts for the permanent collection, purchasing for the "Hands-On Educational Collection"(a collection of touchable artifacts made available to teachers throughout the State), funding a publication series, publishing a newsletter, promoting Museum events, hosting receptions and other special events, applying for grant funding for research and education programs, underwriting the annual Native Artist Demonstrators Program, hosting an annual lecture series, providing docents and other volunteers who work in the Museum gallery, assisting with research and care of the collection and staffing the gift shop.
