The BBBS mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
For more than 40 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas has been pairing children, ages 6-16 with supportive adult mentors who build friendships and offer encouragement and support to each child. Our one-to-one mentoring model helps kids facing adversity achieve measurable outcomes leading to lifelong success.
In 2013, our volunteers provided 80,000 hours of mentoring to more than 1,300 Little Brothers and Sisters - the value of this time is nearly $2 million! Even more impressively, last year more than 97% of our Little Brothers and Sisters stayed in school, improved their grades and avoided early parenting.
I've been helping out a 9 year old for several months. I always look forward to seeing him and doing fun stuff with him. Big Brothers Big Sisters did a very good job of matching us up because we have alot in common.
