The mission of the Bucks County Intermediate Unit, the leading regional provider of specialized educational programs, is to ensure the success of our school districts and clients in achieving optimal student growth through the collaborative initiation, design and delivery of exemplary services.

Description

The Bucks County Intermediate Unit is a regional educational service agency which provides programs and services to Bucks County Schools. Local school district contributions support most programs, some are funded by federal or state allocations. Special Education Services include: classroom programs (preschool early intervention, autistic / PDD support, severe language support, hearing support, multihandicapped support, physical support, life skills support, emotional support and learning support) itinerant services (speech & language support, visual support, gifted support, hearing support), and related services (school psychology, audiological exams, occupational and physical therapy, social work services, job development/ placement/ coaching, transition services, interpreter service, assistive technology, staff development and transportation). Bucks county includes 13 districts, it is both rural and suburban.Family Friends of Bucks County is coordinated by the Bucks County Intermediate Unit. It is an intergenerational program which matches volunteers 55 and older with families who have children with disabilities. Family Friends is a national program, established by the National Council on Aging.
