Canine Companions for Independence is a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships.
Established in 1975, Canine Companions for Independence provides highly trained assistance dogs to children and adults with disabilities other than blindness. Canine Companions is recognized worldwide for the excellence of its dogs, and quality and longevity of the matches made between people and dogs. There is no charge for the dog, its training, or on-going follow up services. The cost to breed, train and place an assistance dog with an indivudial is $45,000.
