Mission Statement
Milligan College provides opportunities for education in Bible, arts, and sciences which are shaped by a Christian world view in order to (1) create an environment dedicated to intellectual, spiritual, social, and physical development, (2) lead to selected professional and career possibilities, and (3) establish a community of inquiry, responsibility, and caring. Programs lead to associate, undergraduate, or graduate degrees, as well as provide for personal enrichment; they prepare men and women to participate in the necessary endeavors which will result in the accomplishment of the following objectives: A Positive, Personal Christian Faith That Jesus is Lord and Savior. An Insight into the Impact of the Christian Scripture on Personal and Social Ethics. The Capacity to Recognize and Assume Responsibility in Society. Milligan College provides a Christian liberal arts foundation for career preparation in 29 major areas of study, providing opportunities for students to grow spiritually, intellectually, physically, and socially. Since 1866, the curriculum of Milligan College has united the study of Scripture, humanities, sciences and fine arts into a Christian world view. Accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, the College awards Associate, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Master of Education and Master of Occupational Therapy degrees. Beautifully situated on 145 acres in scenic Northeast Tennessee, Milligan offers a friendly, collegial campus environment and a student-faculty ratio of 12:1. Integrating faith, scholarship and technology, Milligan equips ethical leaders for a continually changing and challenging world. Milligan is a private college which relies upon gifts and contributions from individuals and churches and income from endowments to supplement revenue from student fees. The College is affiliated with the non-denominational Christian Churches and welcomes students from various religious backgrounds.
