To receive, investigate, and resolve complaints from or on behalf of long-term care facility residents; and through education, prevention, intervention and follow-up, ensure that residents are free from abuse, neglect or exploitation, are treated with dignity and respect, and enjoy the highest possible quality of care.
The NH Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program professional staff and specially trained volunteers advocate for individuals aged 60 or older who live in long-term care settings. Program activities are centered around helping long-term care residents realize the highest possible quality of life and level of well being.
