The mission of the Northern Virginia SIDS Alliance is to support family members and others who have been affected by the tragedy of a SIDS death, to educate the public and professional community about SIDS, and ultimately eliminate SIDS through research.

Description

Welcome to the Northern Virginia Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Alliance. Once known as crib death, SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) is the leading cause of death in the United States of babies between one month and one year old. In fact, more babies are lost to SIDS each year than all babies who are lost to cancer, heart disease, and muscular dystrophy combined. SIDS affects families of all races, religions and income levels. It usually occurs during sleep, and strikes without warning.
