HI Chicago is looking for volunteers to lead and support welcome parties for guests at our bustling Chicago hostel; which hosts travelers from across the globe. The HI USA Welcome Party allows guests to meet and interact with each other, at the hostel. These Welcome Parties also serve as an opportunity for guests to learn some information about Chicago history and the culture of our local communities/neighborhoods. WHY VOLUNTEER WITH HI USA? Meet new people from all over the world, including travelers, staff, and fellow volunteers Help bring people together and facilitate cultural exchange Build skills in public speaking, foreign languages, intercultural communication, and more Earn HI USA membership and overnights at HI USA hostels Training provided and flexible schedule Have fun while making a difference! Training provided! SCHEDULE We are looking for welcome party volunteers for our Monday Trivia/Game Nights (5pm-8pm), Friday Welcome Parties (4:45pm - 7:00pm) and Sunday Game Nights (5:30p-8:30p). Occasionally, there are also one-off special events for holidays or other celebrations on different days/times of the week. You can sign up for individual dates or recurring. REQUIREMENTS You must be 18+ to be a volunteer at our welcome parties. Most tasks involved in welcome parties require standing for long periods of time and lifting up to 20lbs. PURPOSE/DEFINITION and HI USA MISSION HI USA is 501(c)(3) non-profit education association. Our purpose is to "inspire a deeper understanding of people places and cultures for a more tolerant world." As a non-profit, the revenues we receive through overnight stays and memberships is reinvested in mission delivery.

We invite you to bring your area of expertise to curate a custom tour specifically visiting Rosehill or Graceland cemetary. HI USA is seeking active and upbeat volunteers to lead weekly or bi-weekly fitness activities for travelers in our Chicago hostel, which is close to Grant Park! You would coordinate a casual game or activity, such as beach volleyball, soccer, pickleball, capture the flag, or any fun group activity that gets our guests outside to enjoy the weather and get some exercise! The volunteer would meet guests at our hostel in the Loop, then walk them or lead them on public transit to the park/beach. We would work with your schedule to find a time where you can lead a recurring, weekly or bi-weekly event. WHY VOLUNTEER WITH HI USA? We invite you to bring your area of expertise to curate a weekly northside Chicago neighborhood tour. We are seeking walking tour guides for areas such as: Andersonville, Wrigleyville, Wicker Park, Logan Square, Rogers Park, and more. We are seeking a volunteer who knows the area well, and who can share with guests the history that has made the neighborhood what it is today. We are seeking a volunteer to develop a tour focusing on the areas of culture, murals/public art, and/or food. The volunteer would meet guests at our hostel in the Loop, then take them on the CTA to the particular neighborhood, where the volunteer would lead the tour. WHY VOLUNTEER WITH HI USA? HI USA is seeking local certified volunteers to lead weekly yoga classes for travelers in our Chicago hostel; where we have a room perfectly suited for the practice! This is a great opportunity for someone seeking to share their practice with others or one looking to get more yoga instructing experience. WHY VOLUNTEER WITH HI USA?
