Description
Center for Cultural Interchange was founded by writer/teacher Emanuel Kuntzelman under the name Center for Humanistic Interchange. Its name was changed in 1992. The Center's goals are to promote cultural understanding, academic development, and world peace. Center for Cultural Interchange organizes academic semester and academic year programs in the United States, summer programs for students in the United States, and short- and long-term programs for US students abroad. Students are screened and selected in cooperation with sending offices. Selection is based on language skills, scholastic standing, cross-cultural skills, and motivation. Participants are provided orientation prior to depature from the home country and upon arrival, and receive re-entry preparation before returning home. Host families are provided orientation at the local level.
