Mission Statement

The primary purpose of the Crawford County READ Program (Literacy Council) is to reduce adult illiteracy by insuring that county residents increase their functional reading and writing competencies so they may better meet and cope with adult responsibilities.

Description

The Crawford County READ Program is a community-based volunteer program that tutors one-on-one with adults needing basic reading, writing, and spelling skills. We also tutor in the areas of English as a Second Language and GED preparation and math. We give instruction in the county jail and also have a family literacy component to our program.
