Mission Statement

Book'em creates a more literate Nashville by helping economically disadvantaged children, from birth through high school, discover the joy and value of reading through book ownership and enthusiastic volunteers.

Description

We believe that children need their own books and role models to help them appreciate books and reading. We collect and purchase books for underprivileged children and teens. We provide books to children and teens, who don't have them and reading volunteers to elementary schools and preschools that serve underprivileged children in Davidson County.

Book'em is and amazing organization that sends readers into schools and gives books to area children. I have been a reading volunteer and have volunteered to sort books for them. They are very responsible with their resources and responsive to the needs in the community.

I absolutely love reading to small children. They are so receptive and love to see me show up with new books for them to take home. I wish everyone could experience the joy I do and the satisfaction I feel when I leave them with a new book.
