Description

American Lung Association of Illinois was established initially to fight tuberculosis. We have expanded our mission to include a vision of a world free of lung disease and promote healthy lungs. Our state office is in Springfield, Illiois, with regional offices in major population centers. Our toll free number 1-800-LUNG-USA provides immediate information on all of our programs and services, including our RESOURCE CENTER and CALL CENTER, which is staffed by health care professionals. They are available free of charge to the public to assist answering questions on pulmonary issues and lend assistance with obtaining knowledge or information available to people suffering with lung diseases. We provide programming in tobacco control (i.e. "Smoke Free - That's Me", TATU Teens Against Tobacco Use, N.O.T. Not On Tobacco for children that do smoke, among others). In asthma education we are actively engaged in community forums, Asthma 101, Camp Superkids, Tools for Schools, A is for Asthma for preschoolers, and professional educational opportunities through our LEARNING INSTITUTE. Our Freedom from Smoking cessation program is the "gold standard" leader, with facilitator trainings offered throughout the year around the state. Literature and a video library are also available.
