The Community Food Bank needs the help of volunteers distribute shelf-stable products and fresh groceries to individuals, families, and seniors in our community! There are numerous tasks that we need help within this opportunity. Please make an account here: https://volunteer.communityfoodbank.org/ General dates & times: Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday Volunteer Shifts: 7:30 AM - 10:30 AM / 10:15 AM - 2:30 PM, Thursdays 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Note that distribution for clients is now 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Volunteer shift arrival is set a bit earlier to ensure folks arrive and get set-up to begin by 9:00, and the shift is extended till 2:30 in case of a large influx of clients around 2:00 PM. Distribution volunteers may assist with the following tasks: Taking client tickets Loading client grocery carts with emergency bags, senior boxes, and other food items Help keep the flow of clients steady and appropriately distanced Ensure that product is stocked on the back-end (opening product, keeping area clean of cardboard and trash) Assisting in taking carts to client’s cars and returning the carts Receiving carts from clients & returning them inside the building For a safe and fulfilling volunteer experience, volunteers must complete the Good Manufacturing Practices training found under one’s account qualifications. One should feel comfortable working inside and standing for a majority of the shift in variable temperatures, and be able to perform physical work (more below). Basic Spanish is helpful, though by no means necessary!

The Community Food Bank needs volunteers to help distribute shelf-stable and fresh groceries to families and seniors in our community! Volunteers will assist with loading product into client cars, traffic control, check-in, and walk-up distributions. Tasks will be assigned the day of by the supervisor. Dress code: Read dress code requirements below for volunteering! Please be aware that failure to follow the dress code may result in dismissal from volunteer activity. Comfortable, closed-toe and closed-heel shoes Sun, weather, and food-safe clothing Shirts must cover armpits, abdomen, and chest (no tank tops) Shorts should not be too tight or short No sandals Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are advised If you would like to wear gloves during distribution, please bring your own gloves Safety Requirements: All volunteers must be aware of and uphold the safety expectations below in order to volunteer. Note: no lockers for storing personal items are available -- please leave them in your vehicle or at home. Face masks are optional Regularly wash/sanitize your hands before, during, and after your shift Drink plenty of water to stay cool and hydrated Volunteers agree that they feel safe and are able to perform essential tasks, including... Standing for long periods of time Ability to lift 25-50 lbs from the ground or over the head Ability to bend, kneel, push, pull, and walk No use of cell phones, iPods, headphones, etc. during shift For food safety, do not chew gum or smoke while volunteering No food or glass is permitted in the distribution area NOTE that, on occasion, distribution times may extend past the allotted time or end early. If it extends, due to a large volume of clients, we ask that you stay to assist completion of all clients in distribution. Thank you for your flexibility!

This opportunity requires significant training and we ask that volunteer commit to volunteering at least once per week for at least 3 months. Interested in learning more? One should feel comfortable working on computers and engaging clients respectfully and in a friendly, professional manner. Spanish proficiency is a major support. Ideal volunteer qualifications: Spanish proficiency Able to volunteer regularly once/week for at least 3 months (ideally) Must be proficient using computers Able to engage in conversation with clients Positive attitude Must be available to complete Link2Feed and check-in training (more information email volunteer@communityfoodbank.org). Volunteers are needed to help support our Farmer's Market, where folks will work to provide fresh local produce to all Southern Arizonans. Volunteers must be able to serve outside, and training is provided on site! This is an access market with a Double-Up SNAP food stamp matching program, culturally relevant foods, and is a community space to engage with growers and neighbors. It is a public and inclusive space with folks from all different backgrounds, where all are welcome. *Bilingual preferred, but not required* Training is provided during your first shift! The ideal candidate is someone who can commit to volunteering at least 3 Thursdays a month. At the Farmer's Market, volunteers are needed to: Welcome and take care of guests at the info table Help guests learn different methods for paying for produce (including SNAP or vouchers) Set up and break down produce and displays at the market, market signs, and vendor tents Support vendors Handle monetary transactions Check out customers Support CFB’s Abundant Harvest Cooperative (to learn more about one of the ways we promote local food, click here) Location: 221 S Avenida del Convento, Tucson AZ.
